Being the first in your family to attend college is daunting, but rewarding. The College Board, in partnership with Roadtrip Nation created this compelling documentary entitled, Why Not Us?  Follow the journeys of four young people — all first in their families to go to college —  as they roadtrip across the country to interview inspiring individuals who were also first in their families to pursue higher education. Seniors who have taken at least 3 years of French or Spanish and feel they may qualify for honor cords (94 average overall) need to see Madame Nall asap.  The last day to pay for the honor cords will be Thursday February 18th. You need to see Madame Nall in room 418 to have her check to see if you qualify before paying.

All seniors who have taken French or Spanish for at least 3 years and feel they may qualify for an honor cord to wear at graduation need to see Madame Nall in room 418 to submit your name for her to check. You must have at least 3 years of one of these two foreign languages and have maintained an overall average of a 94.  This is a time sensitive issue.

Information Concerning High School Exams and Attendance Policy

The Santa Rosa County School District has made some changes to the exam and absenteeism policy for the 2015-2016 school year.  All high school students will take semester exams in both the fall and spring semesters in every course that will account for 20% of their semester average.  During the spring semester, state mandated End of Course Exams in Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology, US History, English 1 and English 2 replace the semester exam in those respective classes. Students missing 10 or more days, whether excused or unexcused, will be required to PASS a comprehensive semester exam.  Students with excessive absences who DO NOT PASS a semester exam will be given the lower of either a 59% or the actual average. Parents may apply for a waiver from the excessive absenteeism policy if the absences were medical in nature.  Additional documentation from the medical service provider may be required.

Attention parents & students: Please be aware that all grade point averages (GPA'S) may not be accurate on the reverse side of the report cards due to state policy stating that classes with an end-of-course exam (EOC) cannot be utilized when calculating GPA until after the EOC has been completed.   GPA's will be accurately calculated at the end of the school year.

IMPORTANT DUAL ENROLLMENT INFORMATION Dual Enrollment Students:  This is a reminder of the change in the articulation agreement between Pensacola State College and the SRCSD that went into effect this school year.  A student who makes a grade of a "D" or "F" in ANY of their current dual enrollment class will no longer be eligible to take any dual enrollment classes for the remainder of the school year.  All students who are currently taking classes off campus would have to return to NHS for the second semester, if this is the case.  If you have any questions, please contact your child's guidance counselor at 936-6080.
