College Board's Equity and Access Policy Statement on AP Courses

Attention Class of 2017: Congratulations on becoming a SENIOR!  Believe it or not, it’s almost time for your senior pictures.  For your photo to appear in your senior yearbook, you MUST have your photo taken through Kay Brown Photography.  Kay and her team will be on the NHS campus two different weeks during the summer for your convenience, but you MUST make an appointment in the front office BY the last day of school on June 1st.  You may choose to have your picture made June 14-17 or July 19-22.  Kay will be on campus from 9 am-4 pm each of those days.  Brochures detailing picture packages and prices will be sent home through English classes, and additional brochures will be available in the office.  If you have questions, please see Mrs. Watson in room 411.

Information Concerning High School Exams and Attendance Policy

The Santa Rosa County School District has made some changes to the exam and absenteeism policy for the 2015-2016 school year.  All high school students will take semester exams in both the fall and spring semesters in every course that will account for 20% of their semester average.  During the spring semester, state mandated End of Course Exams in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Biology, US History, English 1 and English 2 replace the semester exam in those respective classes. Students missing 10 or more days, whether excused or unexcused, will be required to PASS a comprehensive semester exam.  Students with excessive absences who DO NOT PASS a semester exam will be given the lower of either a 59% or the actual average. Parents may apply for a waiver from the excessive absenteeism policy if the absences were medical in nature.  Additional documentation from the medical service provider may be required.

Attention parents & students: Please be aware that all grade point averages (GPA'S) may not be accurate on the reverse side of the report cards due to state policy stating that classes with an end-of-course exam (EOC) cannot be utilized when calculating GPA until after the EOC has been completed.   GPA's will be accurately calculated at the end of the school year.

IMPORTANT DUAL ENROLLMENT INFORMATION Dual Enrollment Students:  This is a reminder of the change in the articulation agreement between Pensacola State College and the SRCSD that went into effect this school year.  A student who makes a grade of a "D" or "F" in ANY of their current dual enrollment class will no longer be eligible to take any dual enrollment classes for the remainder of the school year.  All students who are currently taking classes off campus would have to return to NHS for the second semester, if this is the case.  If you have any questions, please contact your child's guidance counselor at 936-6080.
