JUNIORS and SOPHOMORES may sign up for the PSAT/NMSQT in guidance office.  This is the National Merit Scholar Qualifying test that must be taken during your JUNIOR year to qualify, but may be taken in 10th grade for practice. The COST IS $15 and make checks payable to JAY HIGH SCHOOL.  IT WILL BE OCT. 14 on a Wednesday from 8-11.                                    Free practice site:  https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10/practice

JUNIORS AND SENIORS MAY sign up for ASVAB in guidance.  Test date is NOV. 4 on Teacher In-service half day.  IT will begin at 8 AM.  You do not have to join military, but this test may open doors for many other opportunities.

 PLAN TEST which is a FREE ACT practice test will be given to all tenth graders on NOV. 4 on Teacher IN-service half day.  All tenth graders will be given the test so no need to sign up.

 ACT deadline for October is Sept. 18 with no late fee.  Register online at www.actstudent.org   Test will be given at JHS on Oct. 24, Dec. 12, April 9 and June 11. Test center code for JHS is 165690  and the CEEB CODE for JHS is 100-815.

Another great site is the www.kahnacademy.com  which is free and has help with many subjects for all grade levels including elementary, middle and high and into college level on some subjects. It also has free ACT and SAT prep.

Parents, If you wish to communicate with your child's teacher via email, you must sign and return a Student Info Request Form.  This form is also found on the district home page under the Parents/Parents Resources tab.



Parents:  If you need to contact your student during school hours, call the school office.  Students' cell phones are to be turned off from 7:50-2:00.  Thanks for your cooperation.
