National Bullying Prevention Month

Every October, schools and organizations across the country join in observing National Bullying Prevention Month. The goal is to encourage communities to work together to stop bullying and cyberbullying by increasing awareness of the prevalence and impact of bullying on all children of all ages. Bullying can be verbal, physical, or via the Internet. It can severely affect the victim's self-image, social interactions, and school performance―often leading to insecurity, lack of self-esteem, and depression in adulthood. School dropout rates and absences among victims of bullying are much higher than among other students.   At GBMS, it is important to us that our students and staff feel safe and bully-free in the environment.  The Santa Rosa County School District has a specific policy on bullying.  You can familiarize yourself with this policy by visiting https://www.santarosa.k12.fl.us/files/csc.pdf.

During the month of October, our students will take part in anti-bullying activities.  During the week of October 12th, students will be challenged to introduce themselves and make friends with students they have never formally met.  On October 21st, GBMS will wear orange and take part in the national “UNITE” day.  October 26th – 30th, in conjunction with Red Ribbon Week, students will participate in dress-up days and activities to actively promote our stance to say NO to BULLYING.  Please join us as we take an active approach in maintaining a pleasant bully-free environment for the students at Gulf Breeze Middle.  Your participation is greatly appreciated.

Welcome Message

Welcome to Gulf Breeze Middle School.  It is indeed an honor and a privilege that I am the Principal of one of the best middle schools in the state of Florida.  We are located in beautiful Gulf Breeze, Florida just miles from the pristine, white beaches off of the Gulf of Mexico.  We have about 900 of the best students in the state of Florida who are served by the best faculty, staff, and community in the state.  We are very proud that we have earned an “A” each year in the Florida School Grading System since the inception of school grades in 1999.  Our hard working and dedicated staff ensures that each student is challenged to his/her fullest potential.

Our students are encouraged to participate in many activities at Gulf Breeze Middle School.  Our band program is known throughout the state and our Symphonic Band has received a superior rating for 24 straight years.  We have over 250 students participating in our Beginning, Varsity, and Symphonic bands. Our students have performed well in local and state History Fairs and have sent many students to the national competition in Washington, DC the last few years.  We have had two national History Fair winners in the past 9 years.  Our students have performed well in Geography Bees, Spelling Bees, oratorical and speech contests, math competitions, PE, and health competitions.  Our students are also involved in raising money for various charitable efforts, work with special needs kids in the Sports Ability Games, and are very involved in our local Relay for Life.  Students can also get involved with our Junior Optimist Club, Builders Club and cross country team.

Gulf Breeze Middle School is very fortunate to have the support of our parents and community.  We have an exceptionally active PTO group as well as our School Advisory Council and we always welcome and encourage participation in both.  We are an active member of the Gulf Breeze Chamber of Commerce and other organizations throughout the city.  We have many business partners who have a vested interest in the youth of our community.

If you are moving to our community or thinking about transferring from a private school, please call and/or stop by and see our wonderful school.  We are very proud of our school and community and would love to show you what we have to offer.  Come see how a student can be challenged academically in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.  We look forward to meeting you.
